Does Citythinking have a CSR policy?

The passengers of the Arbella who left England in 1630 with their new charter had a great vision. They were to be an example for the rest of the world in rightful living. Future governor John Winthrop stated their purpose quite clearly: «We shall be as a city upon a hill, the eyes of all people are upon us.» 7.12.2017 20:44

25 years ago, the group of professionals that today meet at Citythinking started working in architecture and urban design 25 years ago, engaging mostly in common projects in that time: housing projects in well-developed cities with kind of “unlimited” resources and ever-increasing demand for luxury.

It was later, 15 years ago, when we had an opportunity to start working for the Housing Ministry in Morocco, the country only 300 kilometers away from our comfort living area, and understood in place the reality of the development countries concerning urban settlements: we realized then that the world was starting to face the biggest migration in history with 60 million people move to cities every year and the symptoms spread all over: population displacement within the country, slum overpopulated areas, poor infrastructure, and failing over all, a few public millions dollars wasted in new urban developments that the citizen did not like

Thanks to these experiences, 10 years ago we started to imagine how to design and build their dreams of affordable housing in their poor context, with good quality of life, inclusive, safe, respecting local environment and bringing transparency into the urban development. We assembled a team of architects, urbanists, product engineers, data analysts, researches, visionaries and we set the basic elements for a Open Design Platform (PSP SOFTWARE) to help us to create a standard solution so call Smart Urban Ecosystems (SUE), for the design and construction of affordable housing districts.

Today we believe we may help to change the world. Our solution helps communities to build affordable housing with transparency, certainty and control, embracing the natural resources and significantly improving the quality of life. It helps to administrate a complex ecosystem of all functions needed for new cities, enabling modularity, flexibility of scenarios and unique SW platform with millions of data points analyzing KPIs, costs and performance. It delivers clear benefits for the society:

  • Sustainability (planet): preservation of natural, social & cultural heritage, optimal utilization of resources (energy, water, minimal waste) and reduction of negative environmental impact
  • Quality of life (people): rapid improvement in living conditions and quality of life (mobility, energy, medical care), inclusive ecosystem with respect for individuals and countryside
  • Efficiency and effectivity (communities): transparency & cost control, short lead time, modularity, scenario analysis, linking geometry, data with budget and time constraints

Having the potential with our solutions to change lives of millions of people, helping them to live in satisfying and respectful conditions and enabling them to build their city upon a hill, a privilege that should common for everyone, everywhere, we believe we are helping to change the world as we make it a better place for living.
